What's Your Story? A Morning with the Winter Family
The boys had woken up shortly before I arrived. Although it had been a few years since I photographed C and his parents, I hadn't yet met H, the youngest member of the family. I quickly learned that as long as I didn't disrupt H's weekend morning routine of watching cartoons and drinking milk, we were going to get along just fine. Being the kind of person who thoroughly enjoyed my weekend morning cartoons...and the mom of former toddlers who thoroughly enjoyed their weekend morning cartoons...I knew this quiet, transitional time was meant to be honored. As the family moved along in their morning routine of playing with toys, making and eating breakfast, preparing dough for homemade bread, playing with more toys, then heading outside for some fresh air and sunshine, I could tell how content and relaxed everyone felt and that there was no place to be except together. Spending the morning with the Winter family in the most relaxed, casual way was so fun and enjoyable for me. The idea behind my What's Your Story? sessions is to be a quiet observer into your family life, documenting ordinary moments that are fleetingly sweet. If you've been around here a while, you may remember this post highlighting another "day-in-the-life" type of session.
Martina and Rob, thank you so much for welcoming me into your home, for offering me breakfast, and for allowing me to spend time with you all.
xoxo
