The Power of a Hype Squad

Last weekend, I photographed my daughter and her friends getting ready for prom. I had a vision: a Vogue-inspired, black and white, documentary-style shoot.

Rather than direct or force anything, I simply let the moments unfold. What I witnessed was pure magic.

One of my favorite moments happened when the girls spontaneously formed a circle, pointing at each other and admiring one another’s dresses. The energy was joyful, supportive, and full of adoration. From curling hair and lashes to tying the backs of dresses, they cheered each other on every step of the way.

It reminded me how powerful it is to be surrounded by people who genuinely want to see you shine.

That same kind of energy has been showing up in my own life lately - from a friend who offered thoughtful feedback on my resume to a business bestie who encouraged me to write more about leadership and the lessons I’ve learned. This kind of steady support makes all the difference.

Support can look like a well-placed bobby pin or a positive word of encouragement. It can show up in big and small ways, and it matters more than we often realize.

The takeaway? Be that person for others. Hype squad energy belongs everywhere.
