Meaningful Thanksgiving Day Photos

It’s Thanksgiving Day in 2020.

Despite our best efforts, we won’t be able to erase 2020 from our minds and hearts, and whatever it looks like for you right now is part of your family story. Why not document it?

Here are 3 shot ideas to make meaningful Thanksgiving Day photos:

Candid shots of messy kitchens or family members prepping dishes (my kids were in charge of making desserts for the first time ever… look at that apple pie lattice my daughter created)

Your immediate family gathered around the table or the Zoom screen (set the camera on a tripod or lean it on a nearby wall or dinner plate on the table, set the timer and get IN a photo with your family)

Focused moments of gratitude (stay present and look for those little moments that you feel thankful for - a hug between siblings or your spouse doing the dishes totally counts! All you need is good lighting and an authentic moment).

PRO TIP: I’m not a fan of having phones at the table, but if your phone is your main photo-taking device, I recommend setting it in airplane mode so you won’t be distracted or tempted by email dings and social media that will take you away from being present with your family.

xo,
